While our older fencers were dominating at the Fairfax Challenge, some of our youth fencers were competing at the Earl of Arlington 2017 youth tournament. starting with Y12 Mixed Epee it was a podium sweep. Aakash Vittala with the gold, Eugene Seok earning silver, and Cecilia Seok earned the bronze. In Y12 mixed Foil Andrew Kee earned the gold medal and Elaine Zhang earned a top 8 medal. in Y14 Mixed Foil FSA swept the podium again. William Suringa won gold, Andrew Kee earned the silver, and Jonathan Yu earned the Bronze medal. Congratulations to all the fencers who participated and earned medals!
FSA fencers competed in Baltimore, MD at the Fairfax Challenge December 16th & 17th 2017. The numbers are in! The fantastic fencers of Fencing Sports Academy shared the honor of capturing the largest number of Foil and Epee medals at the Fairfax Challenge ROC in Baltimore with the fencers of Fencers Club Inc. of New York. Here is the medal break down for FSA:
Div 1A Senior Men's Epee: Zeyad Elashry, Gold. Ayman Fayez, Bronze. Div 1A Senior Men's Foil: Mark Viti, Top 8 medal. C & Under Senior Men's Foil: Jeffrey Gu, Top 8 medal. C & Under Senior Women's Epee: Elizabeth Kim, Top 8 medal. Vet Combined Men's Foil: Yasmany Diaz Hernandez, Gold Congrats to all our fencers! Fencing Sports Academy Fencers earned medals at several tournaments this past weekend November 5th - 6th. Danny Campbell and Carlos Lopez went to Suffern, NY to participate in the Thurst Fall ROC. Danny Campbell earned a bronze medal in Div 1A Senior Men's Epee Event, and Carlos Lopez earned a gold medal in the C & Under Men's Foil event. Heading down to the sunshine state, Nathaniel Wimmer brought home 2 medals from the Florida Raccoon RYC at Stoccata. Nathaniel earned a gold medal in the Y10 Men's Epee, and a top 8 medal in Y12 Men's Epee. In our own backyard Nina Saadat stated her dominance at the Joan of Arc Open. This past Weekend October 21st and 22nd was a busy weekend for the fencers and coaches at FSA. overall Fencing Sports Academy earned 18 medals across 3 events. FSA fencers participated in the Virginia Division Junior Olympic Qualifiers, the CFC Mixed Foil Open, and the DC Champagne Challenge. Congratulations to the following fencers for their achievements! October 14th saw fencers converge on Anaheim California for the October NAC. FSA had fencers competing in several events. Zeyad Elshary and Ayman Fayez competed in Div 1 Men's Epee. Ayman finished 16th out of 300 fencers in this event and Zeyad earned a podium position with a top 8 medal. Hadley Husisian earned a podium position in the Cadet Women's Epee event with a Bronze Medal. Joseph Doan finished 12th out of 132 fencers. A huge congratulations to the fencers and coaches that went to Anaheim California!
FSA fencers entered a couple of tournaments this past weekend, October 7th - 9th, and walked away with several medals.
In St. Louis, FSA fencers participated in the Daugherty Youth Cup SYC/RCC. Nathaniel Wimmer earned a gold medal in Y10 Men's Epee, and a bronze in the Y12 Men's Epee event. Logan Moore earned a top 8 medal in the Y10 Men's Epee event. Chandler Wimmer Earned a top 8 medal in the Y14 Men's Epee Event. Ariadna Tucker Alarcon earned a bronze medal in the Y14 Women's Foil event. Closer to home FSA fencers participated in the Jedi Challenge held by NOVA Fencing Club. FSA fencers took control of the podium with 2 fencers earning medals in the Y14 Mixed foil event. Aileen Zhao earned the silver medal, and Claire Cho earned the bronze medal. The beginning of October saw FSA fencers traveling down to Richmond VA to compete in the Richmond Fall RYC. FSA had a successful weekend with a total of 19 medals. Saturday September 23rd - Sunday September 24th saw several FSA fencers competing in the Charm City Classic ROC held in Owings Mills, MD. FSA Fencer Danny Campbell finished top 8 in the Div 1A Senior Men's Epee. Mark Viti earned a silver medal along with his B2017 Rating and Carlos Lopez earned a top 8 medal in the Div 1A Senior Men's Foil (Pictured above with Coach Machado).
