Executive Director

Connie Schreiber

Our Executive Director Connie Schreiber, is a veteran of the world of fencing. She is willing to share her more than 10 years of experience at the national and international levels for the benefit of parents and fencers alike. Connie’s philosophy is to have a professional, family-friendly environment at the club that can support Foil and Epee fencers at any stage of their journey in the exciting world of fencing. Connie is well known for her support of the coaches who develop training strategies to fit the individual needs of every fencer.

Coaches

Coaches at FSA have undergone extensive training including at world renowned fencing institutions. Many received degrees certifying them to coach all 3 weapons. FSA coaches are current or former top-rated fencers at the national and international level including the Olympic Games. FSA coaches also have been certified as referees. They stand behind our fencers 100 percent.

​Rolando Tucker Leon
​Foil Coach

For three years Rolando was ranked first in the world for foil (1995-97).  Named in "Cuba's Top 10 Athletes" in 1994, he has won gold medals at National Tournaments, Central-American Games, Pan-Am Games, World Cups, and World Championships.  A former Olympian, his team took home the bronze medal at the Atlanta games in 1996.  Rolando has since held a glittering coaching career in Palmares Spain, where his students became absolute champions of Spain seven times, and won many championships in all categories, including a Bronze Medal in 2002 Team World Championship. Rolando received a degree in Fencing from I.S.C.F Manuel Fajardo in Havana, Cuba, where he studied the training of all 3 weapons.

Patricio Moreno
​Epee & Foil Coach

Patricio has a degree in physical education and received his Master Fencing Coach, MAÎTRE D’ARMES, from the Royal Spanish Fencing Federation (RFEE). He started fencing at 6 years old and earned many accolades from the very start. Patricio was a member of the Chilean National Team for 13 years in a row. His best FIE ranking classification was FIE 26° in the world season 2006-2007. He got 3rd place in the World Cup Habana 2006, South American and Pan-American champion. Patricio has more than 15 years of experience coaching. His students have earned many medals such as,  pan am games vice champion, pan am medalist leading Chilean Army National Team, Modern Pentathlon Chilean national Team, and Wheelchair Fencing National Team. He moved to The U.S. in 2016 and has continued to coach students to the podium. His fencers have medaled at RYC, SYC, RJCC and Pan Am Youth events.

Yasmany Diaz Hernandez
​Foil & Epee Coach

Yasmany has results as both a high level fencer and coach. Being familiar with the competitive circuit as a fencer, including a Bronze Medal at the Arizona ROC in 2017, he has coached his students to successes of their own accord. 7 of his fencers competed in the 2017 Summer National Championships. Yasmany earned a degree in physical medicine and rehabilitation and personalized sports training. This degree allows him to maximize his fencers’ training and their results at all competitive levels. He has extensive National and International experience as head coach and assistant coach in a multitude of countries.

Guillermo Madrigal Sardinas
Foil & Epee Coach

Guillermo is a member of Puerto Rico's Olympic Fencing Committee and served as coach of the National team for foil and epee. He was also the President of Casa Cuba fencing club and Team Captain of the National Cuban Fencing Team.  He earned many Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at individual and team international competitions and was a National Champion in Cuba several times.  Coach Guillermo's style combines focus on basic skills, discipline, attention to details and caring for each individual fencer. Guillermo studied the art of fencing at the University of the Superior Institute of Physic Education Manuel Fajardo in Havana, Cuba from 2002 to 2008. He received a degree in fencing and studied all 3 weapons.

Alexis Machado Cordoves
Foil & Epee Program Manager

Machado Studied the art of fencing at the Higher Institute of Physical Culture where he studied fencing training and specialized in coaching of all 3 weapons. He has extensive experience in the management of sports programs on a national level. As a coach Machado saw success in coaching individuals and teams. most notably coaching fencers to consecutive medals in school championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and national olympics gold medals in 2011, 2012, 2013. His past experience and coaching ability allows him to develop a cohesive fencing program for the club, while being able to create a program which takes into account each individual fencer's talent. Machado's espertise enables the fencer to achieve their full potential.
Fencing Sports Academy often has openings for foil and epee coaches as well as for fitness and administrative staff.  FSA seeks coaches who can help build a competitive fencing program starting with introducing fencing to the beginner classes and develop those fencers into national and international champions. The club looks for team players with a positive and highly professional attitude along with the  ability to work with children, teens, and adults.  If interested please send CV to fencingtoday@gmail.com.
